Claude Code 3 targets multi-hour engineering runs — Anthropic's clearest bet yet that coding is the enterprise AI wedge.
Anthropic shipped Claude Code 3, a major update to its command-line coding agent that adds native support for long-running autonomous tasks. The release doubles down on Anthropic's positioning as the enterprise coding-workflow platform of choice.
Coding is Anthropic's clearest wedge. Enterprise developers already pay for tools; the market is well-understood; and Claude's coding capabilities have been consistently at or above the frontier. Owning this workflow deeply is a defensible position.
Cursor, Aider, and OpenAI Codex all target adjacent slices. Anthropic's advantage is model integration — Claude Code 3 uses Claude Opus features that competitors can only proxy.
